About our school board

Manheim Christian School is a parent-governed organization. The Board of Trustees consists of 10 members and meets monthly to give oversight and establish policies for the school. In addition to the Board members, several pastors from the area serve on the Board in an advisory role. The Board members serve two-year terms with opportunity for re-appointment.

Seth Kensinger - Chairperson

Seth and his wife, Diane, have two daughters and three grandsons. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Lehigh University and worked in industry. Seth returned to his alma mater, Manheim Central, to teach chemistry for 23 years. After earning a doctorate in educational leadership from Widener University, he became an administrator at Manheim Central at both elementary and middle school levels. He returned to the classroom in 2017 to teach agriculture science. Seth and Diane are actively involved with the children’s ministries at LCBC Lebanon campus. Serving on the MCS board is a great opportunity to serve God and our community in a Christian education environment.


BOARD MEMBERS

Sue Wenger - Vice Chairperson

Sue received a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education (K-6) from The Pennsylvania State University and a Master’s in Education degree from Eastern Mennonite University. She also has a Reading Specialist certificate (K-12). She taught second and then first grade at Penn Manor for 8 years and then used her teaching skills while volunteering with the reading specialist at MCS and while serving in the elementary and middle/high school departments at Calvary Church, where she is a member. Sue actively serves as an organizational leader and project leader in the Mount Joy 4-H community club. Sue enjoys traveling, skiing, teaching, decorating, and party planning. Sue and John have been married for 26 years and have three children who have all attended MCS. MCS has been a blessing to Susan’s family and she is honored to serve as a board member.

Katie Buckwalter - Secretary

Katie and her husband, Jordan, have faithfully been together since 1999. They have four children, all of whom have been positively impacted by MCS. She graduated with her degree in Pharmacy and works for several companies part time. Their family is actively involved at LCBC Church. Katie is an advocate for mission work and adoption. She loves to travel and serve others with the resources and talents God has blessed her with. 

Scott Moyer - Treasurer

Scott and his wife Ann both grew up and currently live in Manheim and attend East Fairview Church. Scott received his Bachelor’s of Science degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in accounting from Shippensburg University. He is a Certified Public Accountant, employed by PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP and has 35 years of experience serving local, regional, national and global clients, focusing primarily on financial services clients. Scott has been called to serve on the board and leadership of several local non-profits that minister to and serve God’s children from infancy, into childhood, youth, young-adult, family and though their senior years. He is honored to be called to serve on the MCS Board as his father was in the initial MCS class when it opened and many family and friends that have attended and taught at MCS.

Andy Beck

Andy and his wife Abby have been married since 2007. They have three children; Brindley, Trace, and Layna, who all attend MCS. His family enjoys spending time at their cabin in West Virginia and the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Andy earned a Master’s degree in Agriculture Education and is a District Sales Manager for Seed Consultants. He has attended Manheim BIC since 2014.

Garrett Derr

Garrett and his wife, Hannah, are parents of Ava, Hadley, and Ella, all students at MCS. Garrett earned his degree from Lancaster Bible College and holds a Master’s in Instructional Technology from Wilkes University. He works as an Instructional Technology Coach for the School District of Lancaster, supporting more than 10,000 students throughout the city. He views this role as his personal "mission field," where he strives to make a meaningful impact in the lives of students. Garrett and Hannah also own The Farmhouse Finds, a custom furniture business based in Lancaster. They are active members of Community Fellowship Church - Bethel, where they both attend and serve.

Monica Gehman

Monica and her husband, Greg, have been married since 2007. They have four children, all of whom currently attend or have graduated from MCS. She works part-time at her husband's business, G&G Feed & Supply, in Manheim. Monica attends Crossway Church in Millersville, where she serves on several teams, including women‘s ministry, greeting, and children’s ministry teams. Greg and Monica also serve as Care Group Leaders for their church. She enjoys being creative and working with her hands and using the gifts the Lord has given her to serve Him and others.

Caleb Keller

Caleb is a flight instructor at his business, Appalachian Aviators. His heart is to use his career and business to serve and minister to others. Caleb attends Shift House Church with his wife Meagan and their two children, Owen and Kinsley, both of whom attend MCS. Caleb’s goal is to have a close knit family rooted in Christ.

Todd Zurin

Todd and his wife, Jess, have been married since 2012 and have two children, Clark and Haley, who both attend MCS. After working and traveling as an engineer in sports television for 15 years, God used 2020 to redirect him to his current job working locally for a family e-commerce business. Since the job change, it has allowed Todd to be more involved and serve in the kid ministry at their church, Community Fellowship Church and in the same community he grew up in, as a volunteer at the Manheim Farm Show. Todd enjoys trail running, finding solutions to problems and watching football with his family.

Sherri Gorman

Sherri and her husband, Blaine, have a son and daughter and four grandchildren. They have been married for 41 years. Sherri graduated from Elizabethtown College with a B.S. Degree in Accounting. She was part of the National Championship Women’s Basketball Team at Elizabethtown College. She pursued her love of basketball by coaching for 25 years, which consisted of many levels of play including a collegiate role at her alma. She is employed in her family business of Kinsey’s Archery Products and Freedom Outdoors & Armory. Sherri is the third generation of family members, and her children also work as the fourth generation. Sherri’s church home is Cross Roads BIC in Mount Joy. She looks forward to using the skills and abilities that God has given her to make a difference in lives of our young children. She feels very blessed to be part of this great organization.

Andrew Miller – Pastoral Advisor

Andrew has served as a Pastoral Advisor for MCS for over 40 years. Andrew is married to Naomi. Their 5 children: Lamar, Twila, Donna, Julia and Karen all graduated from MCS. They have 15 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. The Millers' grandson is Jon Sauder, the Director of Admissions and Spiritual Life at MCS. The Millers’ daughter, Julia Nolt, is a first grade teacher at MCS. They have one great-grandchild that attends the school. Andrew served as Assistant Pastor at Erisman Mennonite Church for 40 years and is now retired.
